The sorting order of file names in Windows XP Explorer can be difficult to use as it sorts file names containing numbers in a different fashion than previous versions of Windows. To set the sorting order to the traditional method, add the following registry key:
User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
Value Name: NoStrCmpLogical
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (1 = Windows 2000 method)
